Sun 19th July Dulwich Women 2s vs Beddington

DULWICH WOMEN 2s 160-2 (20.2) beat BEDDINGTON 157-6 (30) by 8 wickets

The next game for the 2s was a 9 a-side clash vs. Beddington. They won the toss and elected to bat first on a good deck for batting and quick outfield. Our openers, Olivia & Sim mixed up pace with spin with Olivia taking a couple of early wickets reducing Beddington for 9-2. The change bowlers (Maria, Shania & Miranda) continued the pressure bowling tightly; not going for many runs as the scoreboard slowly ticked over. Maria got a wicket courtesy of a flighted delivery to dismiss the opposing skipper making it 45-3.

As our skipper Amanda was making the changes, Beddington fought back with a partnership of 73 as we struggled to make a breakthrough. Nonetheless, we brought Olivia back to break the partnership which she duly did taking her 3rd wicket in the process. The runs dried up from there but Beddington still made a respectable 157-6 with everyone getting a bowl for us.

Our openers, Ami & Maeve, set about the target but unfortunately, Ami got dismissed in the first over for 4 courtesy of a ball just dislodging the bail. This brought Maria to the crease who brought some aggression hitting a plethora of boundaries including a maximum over the leg side which was the first one of the day. She was well supported by Maeve before she was dismissed LBW for 16. Nonetheless, Maria kept going on her merry way eventually retiring on 60 not out off 39 balls.

Emma & Shania continued from where Maria left off punishing the bad balls, hitting boundaries and keeping the scoreboard ticking over. This was particularly shown from Shania who scored 38 off 23 balls ably supported by Emma who hit 29 off 45 balls as we cruised to the target winning by 8 wickets with just under 10 overs to spare.

This was a very impressive win by the 2s as we did the double over Beddington this season. Congratulations to everyone involved.
