DULWICH 76 lost to LEATHERHEAD 81-2 by 8 wickets
Another wretched batting display saw Dulwich bundled out for just 76 in their Ryman Surrey Championship Division 1 match at Leatherhead.
Dulwich were put in to bat and got off to a pulsating start as Anil Mahey took 11 runs off the first over, which also contained a wide. That was as good as it got! Mahey’s dismissal to a sharp catch in the second over was followed by two more wickets in the third. Jonathan Lewis, top scorer with 23, and James Balmforth, 16, put on 26 for the fourth wicket, but Lewis’s dismissal sparked a further collapse, and the only other batsman to make double figures was Ben Rosser, who finished with 20 not out. Naeem Iqbal contributed 4, and the other six batsmen were all dismissed without scoring.
Dulwich were bowled out in just 24.5 overs, leaving Leatherhead with four overs batting before lunch in which they scored nine without loss. The remaining runs were knocked off in just 10.3 overs after the interval for the loss of two wickets, with Iqbal and skipper Tom Savill picking up one each.
Dulwich remain bottom of the table, and are now 23 points behind Ashtead and 26 behind Farnham, who have moved up to eighth with their win over Normandy. With five matches remaining the competition now reverts to the 50 overs per side format. Next week Dulwich are at home to Beddington, who are currently sixth.
