EAST MOLESEY 282-9 (50) beat DULWICH 123 (24.2) by 159 runs
Dulwich completed their challenging season in the Premier Division of the AJ Sports Surrey Cricket Championship with a 159 run defeat at East Molesey.
Dulwich put their opponents into bat on a green pitch, and were rewarded when Harrison Perry, in his new role of opening bowler, took a wicket in each of his first two overs. Tim Raglan, in an even more unaccustomed role as first change, took the valuable wicket of South African Clyde Reeves-Fortuin in an impressive spell of 1-26 off seven overs. Opener Michael Shean and Tom Cullen thus came together with the score on 75-3 and added 127 for the fourth wicket before Shean fell to Ahmed Khan for 91. Khan picked up a second wicket as Cullen guided his team to 270-5 after 48 overs, whereupon Kaif Ramzan took two wickets in the 49th over to finish with 2-45 off ten, and Khan picked up two more in the 50th, including Cullen for 81, to finish with 4-61 off his ten. The innings ended on 282-9 after their 50 overs. The score had been boosted by 48 extras.
Khan got the Dulwich reply off to a rapid start with 35 off 26 balls, but the score had only reached 43 off seven overs when he became the third wicket to fall. Stands of 36 for the fourth wicket between Ramzan and Ollie Steele, and 30 for the sixth between Raglan and Chris Purshouse, helped lift the score to 118-5 in the 21st over. The lower order was then demolished by Moseley’s two left-arm spinners as Dulwich lost their last five wickets for just five runs to be all out for 123 after 24.2 overs.
Thus concludes a disappointing season. Dulwich will return to Division 1 next year and will be looking to rebuild and bounce back to the top flight.
