DULWICH 88-4 (20) vs WALTON ON THAMES – Match Abandoned

A young Dulwich side containing five players under the age of 20 travelled to Walton on Thames for their AJ Fordham Surrey Championship Division 1 match, but the only winner was the weather.

Dulwich were put in to bat and had reached 88-4 after 20 overs when rain drove the players from the field. Opener Ollie Sykes, making his first appearance of the season, had led the way, making 48 not out off 56 balls. He was joined by Harvey Booth with the score on 53-4 after 16.3 overs, and the pair added 35 off the next 21 balls, with Booth contributing 19 off 16, Sykes 12 off five, plus four extras. Frustratingly the rain set in for the rest of the day and no resumption was possible, so the match was abandoned with both sides taking six points.

All the other matches in the Division were similarly curtailed, so Dulwich remain in seventh place. Next week they have a home fixture against Chipstead, Coulsdon & Walcountians, who are currently bottom of the table. Dulwich beat them in the first match between the sides, and they will be hoping their chances of repeating the feat will not be ruined by the weather.
