Match Reports for the Saturday Sixth Elevens
Saturday 6th May against Old Rutlishians 5th X1
Dulwich 19-1 off 7.3 overs
Match abandoned due to rain
John Smith, the sixth team skipper won the toss and promptly chose to bat as ominous rain clouds gathered around the Nursery Road ground in South Wimbledon. With an embarrasment of batting riches Pan Pylas and Jim Benning were flatterred to open the proceedings. Jim quickly got into his stride with some well placed boundaries. Pan sought to keep up the attack but chased one too many outside the off stump and was caught behind for 4.
Shakir Ali strode to the wicket and sought to get on with it being dropped off a skier before the rain intervened. steady rain ended any chance of a game as both sides fretted in the pavilion. Jim Benning had opened his account with 11 not out and Shakir was 2 not out.
Richard Blench was next in and the game looked well set up as the Old Ruts survived to fight another day.
Next week the sixth X1 travel to the Nat West Amblers - always a challenging game!
