Dulwich 2nd XI vs. Sanderstead

Result: Sanderstead Win

Sanderstead 137 all out and Dulwich 130 all out

It was always going to be so simple. Dulwich were top of the table by 15 points, Sanderstead bottom. Dulwich were at home and fired up after receiving a wake up call in not winning for the first time at Leatherhead the previous week. Sanderstead hadn't won a game all season. What's more, they were bowled out for a meagre 137, with Dulwich captain Shaq Farooqi claiming 5 wickets as the spinners destroyed the away side's batting.

Despite the initial early loss of opener Anil Mahey, Dulwich's reply rarely looked in trouble early on, with Steve Hale (40) providing the same solid backbone he has all season. At 85-2 it was not whether, but by how many wickets Dulwich would win the game by. Then, once again this season, a flying mammal changed the whole nature of the game. At Chessington it was a flying pig, this time a poodle*. The pig inspired us, the poodle destroyed us. Careless shots were played, chances held and Dulwich skittled for 130 with over 10 overs remaining to notch the miserly total required for victory. It was a very bad day at the office.

*OK, once again it was helium filled, but we've seen dogs flying as well as pigs now this season. What's going to be next? Only Rochy can have the answer...
