Dulwich 1st XI vs. Reigate Priory
Dulwich (117 all out) lost to Reigate Priory (118-2) by eight
wickets.
Dulwich squandered an encouraging start in the Surrey Championship
Premier League game against high flying Reigate Priory and finally
lost by eight wickets.
Stand in openers Raj Tulsiani and Anil Mahey got off to a very
positive start as Mahey took 16 off Neil Saker’s second over
and his controlled aggression saw the Surrey fast bowler removed
from the attack. Progress was slower against Stuart Hume and Indian
Test player, Sairaj Bahutule but 50 came up in the 15 th over.
The opening stand had reached 75 in the 25 th over when Mahey
was caught off Bahutule for exactly 50 made in 71 balls. His partner
Tulsiani followed four overs later bowled for Bahutule for 28
and Dulwich suffered another blow as acting skipper Jack Lusk was
caught off Hume for 9.
Saker was recalled and with Bahutule ran through the Dulwich
middle order – there were two stumpings, some poor running
and some rash shots as Dulwich collapsed to 117 all out. The Surrey
bowler Saker ended with 3-29 and leg spinner Bahutule, the Test
leg spinner, who bowled throughout to claim 5-54.
The Dulwich players were to rue the lost opportunity as Alex Richards
and former Leicestershire batsman Gregor Macmillan went for their
shots early on taking 20 off the first two overs. Macmillan fell
to Kervin Marc for 13 and Richards was claimed by Mark Kelly for
16.
Former Somerset batsman Simon Ecclestone then took control racing
to 50 off 47 balls and finished with 67 not out as Priory stormed
home.
