Dulwich 1st XI vs. Egham
Result: Dulwich Win Egham 40
all out and Dulwich 42-3 wickets
Another inspired bowling performance by Mark Kelly took Dulwich
to their ninth win in ten matches and consolidated their position
at the top of the second division of the Castle Surrey Championship.
Put into bat, Egham got off to a dreadful start losing their first
three wickets with the score on just 7. Kelly took one and his
opening partner Mark Kenlock took two. Worse was to follow as the
next three wickets fell with the score on 10, all three being caught
by Ray Tudor at third slip off Kelly’s bowling.
Another wicket fell in his next over, caught at second slip to
make the score 13 for seven wickets. The eighth wicket pair doubled
the score before Kelly induced another catch, this time at gully.
Another slip catch gave Kenlock a much deserved third victim to
reduce Egham to 31 for nine wickets. At this stage it seemed unlikely
that Egham would match the Division Two record low score of 39!
Two overthrows brought them level with this total and a no ball
took them to forty before Kelly bowled the number eleven to wrap
up the innings for 40 all out in just nineteen overs. Mark Kelly
took seven for 29 off ten overs to give him eighteen wickets in
his last three matches with a season total of 32 at an average
of 12. Mark Kenlock, who supported Kelly ably, took three wickets
for just ten runs off nine overs of which six were maidens. Kenlock
has taken twenty three wickets so far at just nine apiece.
Dulwich started badly in reply losing their first three wickets
for ten runs in just four overs. Sanity was restored by Jack Lusk
with 22 not out and Ray Tudor with 11 not out. They saw Dulwich
home to ninth win by the ninth over. This innings saw Lusk top
three hundred for the season, averaging 76. The match was completed
in exactly two hours.
Top of the table, Dulwich visit sixth placed Brook in the Castle
Lager Surrey Championship next week.
