Dulwich 1st XI vs. Camberley
Result: Dulwich Win Camberley 110 all out and Dulwich 111-5 wickets
Surrey Championship
Division Two leaders, Dulwich extended their lead to sixteen
points with an important five wicket victory over
second placed Camberley.
Put into bat on a difficult pitch offering movement and uneven
bounce to the seamers, Camberley got off to a poor start. Mark
Kelly picked up the first wicket in the second over. Another wicket
for Kelly plus two for fellow opener Stuart Ferguson and a run
out reduced the visitors to 41 for 5.
Scoring proved no easier against the spinners with off spinner
Graeme Hough taking 3-29 off eleven overs and leg spinner Ty Hopes
taking a wicket for eleven runs off eight overs leaving Camberley
struggling on 91 for nine wickets.
The last wicket pair fought hard leading to the return of Mark
Kelly who had the desired effect by taking the last wicket with
his second ball to dismiss Camberley for 110. Kelly’s figures
of 3-26 off 12.2 overs took his season’s total to 25 for
14 runs apiece. Hough’s three took him to nineteen for the
season at an average of just twelve runs.
In reply, Dulwich found batting no easier losing their first four
wickets for 41 against bowling from Jan Kaminski and Marcus Lancaster.
Mark Kelly and Ray Tudor then restored their fortunes with a partnership
of 34 in twelve overs before Tudor was dismissed for 12.
Mark Kelly continued his match winning form when he was joined
by Ty Hopes and together they saw their side to a five wicket victory.
As they eased towards victory both batsmen played convincing shots
as Kelly’s 35 not out pushed his aggregate to 209 at an average
of 34 while Hopes has made 88 runs so far at an average of 29.
Top of the table, Dulwich entertain Egham in the Castle Lager
Surrey Championship next week.
