Dulwich 1st XI vs. Mitcham
Result: Dulwich Win
Mitcham 194-5 after 55 overs & Dulwich 195-3 wickets
Division Two leaders, Dulwich recorded their sixth
win in six matches with a comprehensive seven wicket victory over
Mitcham.
Mitcham chose to bat and got off to a flying start by
taking 14
of a wayward over from first over from Mark Kelly. He and fellow
opening bowler, Mark Kenlock then applied strong pressure by
conceding only 8 runs off the next nine overs. The Mitcham batsmen
found
scoring no easier against spinners Ty Hopes and Graeme Hough.
Nonetheless Mitcham reached 114 for one wicket by the 38th over
with opener
Gary Outram leading the way with a fighting 76. Attempts to accelerate
led to a flood of wickets for off spinner Hough who took six
wickets for twelve runs in his last five overs to finish with seven
wickets
for forty three runs. Mitcham closed their innings on 194-9 wickets
after fifty five overs.
Dulwich started slowly against accurate
bowling by David Day and former Dulwich slow left armer Alan Byrne
with only fifteen runs
coming off the first nine overs. Raj Tulsiani then took control
scoring 35 of the first 38 runs. Richard Farrow played a captain’s
role by holding the innings together with a solid 64. This was
Farrow’s fourth league 50 of the season taking his run aggregate
to 305 averaging 50!
Farrow was joined in a third wicket partnership of 102 by New
Zealander, Jack Lusk and together they took the score to 155 before
Farrow was dismissed. Lusk was joined by Mark Kelly who scored
25 not out off 20 balls to hasten his side to victory with four
overs to spare. Jack Lusk finished with 57 not out off 69 balls
knowing that he has not been dismissed in his last four innings
and scoring 171 runs in the process.
Top of the table, Dulwich visit neighbours Streatham & Marlborough
in the Castle Lager Surrey Championship next week.
