Dulwich 1st XI vs. Chessington

Result: Dulwich Win

Chessington 116 all out and Dulwich 118 for 3 wickets

Dulwich continued their winning ways with a seven wicket victory over Chessington. Winning the toss Richard Farrow, the Dulwich skipper inserted Chessington on a day when the weather could well determine the outcome of a number of league games.

Chessington found scoring opportunities difficult against the Dulwich opening attack of Kelly and Kenlock but it was Ty Hopes, the Aussie leg spinner who broke through. Bowling a real mixture of googlies and top spinners, Ty took five wickets for 34 as the visitors slumped to 72 for eight wickets.

Backed up by an excellent fielding performance Dulwich were able to turn the screw on the Chessington batsmen with only White staying at the crease. He was eventually stumped off Graeme Hough, who took 3 for 18. Bailey tried to shepherd the Chessington tail to a respectable target but he eventually fell to Eldridge for a spirited 31 and Chessington were all out for 116.

In the damp conditions and with rain forcing a half hour wait, 116 may have proved enough. However Richard Farrow had other ideas sharing a brisk opening stand of 62 with Mark Kelly. Farrow departed with 38 off just 53 balls, only to be replaced by Stuart Ferguson who scored a quickfire 25 whilst Kelly pushed on to 36.

All three were out trying to force the pace and in the late evening sunshine Lusk and Tudor completed the formalities of an impressive seven wicket win. Dulwich’s third successive win keeps them at the top of the Surrey Championship Division Two.

Dulwich travel to the Old Wimbledonians next week.
