Dulwich Sunday X1 playing in the Surrey Trust Leaguein 2006.

We had high hopes for our Trust League team at Dulwich in 2006. We had a good squad of young players, several of whom were beginning to realise their potential and break through into our top senior sides on a Saturday. After a promising start our season tailed away slightly, and a mid table position in our zone - with 3 wins and 3 losses - was a fair reflection of how the team played.

We had very close finishes to our games against Addiscombe (which we narrowly won) and Streatham and Malden (which we narrowly lost). It is a credit to the format of this competition that it seems to throw up tight games between well-matched sides, which often go right down to the last over. The players were as thrilled by the win against Addiscombe as they were disappointed by the close defeats.

As usual our attack was made up of an army of young seam bowlers.
Munna Islam and Luke Howard led the way, with useful contributions coming from Danny Durham, Seamus Betts, Patrick Carnegie and Jamie Hall. Munna's 3 wickets in his second spell against Addiscombe was a highlight of the season. Sunil and Arun Mahey added variety to the attack and took important wickets with guile and spin. Of the batters, Anil Mahey, Tom Howe and David Burton scored the bulk of the runs. Tom top scored with a staggering 164 against Burgess Park.

We look forward to more of the same next year
