Dulwich 73 all out (44.5 overs) lost to Normandy 76 for1 wickets (11.1overs)
Dulwich were completely outplayed and went down to a crushing nine wicket defeat in their Surrey Championship Premier Division clash with Normandy.
After one player delayed the Dulwich contingent travelling on time, only seven players were there at the start with Dulwich having to bat first on a damp pitch. They got off to a disastrous start when Dave Burton was run out without scoring. Scoring proved extremely difficult as the bowlers made good use of the conditions. Wickets fell regularly to a four man seam attack and only Gareth Cornick, with a spirited 20 made double figures. It required the assistance of 24 extras to raise the total to 73 all out. Normandy’s Stuart Meaker was the pick of the bowlers taking 4-14 off 16 overs with only seven runs coming off the bat.
Dulwich got off to a good start in the field when Tom Savill bowled Bobby Howell in the second over. Ross Skidmore and Jim Clutterbuck proved equal to anything Savill and Burton could offer. The game was ended as Skidmore took five fours off Burton’s fifth over to hasten his side to victory after 11.1 overs.
A bad week got worse as Dulwich were penalised by a twenty one point deduction by fielding two MCC ground staff in the early season games. Dulwich now placed bottom of the league need to produce a fighting performance on Saturday when they travel to Wimbledon in the Shepherd Neame sponsored Surrey Championship Premier League.
