The Spring 2008 letter from Paul Davidson, the Colts Organiser
Welcome to another season of junior cricket at Dulwich CC.
This will be our most ambitious season yet with coaching sessions for all age groups from 6/7 to 15 and teams playing League matches from under 9 to under 15. Additionally some of our under 14/15s will be playing for our Academy side from late June in the Surrey Trust League.
For those who are new to the Club we recently attained Clubmark status and there is a strong link between the Colts section and the senior Club. The junior section has boys (and some girls) from over 40 Schools.
Last Season was the most successful ever for Dulwich Colts with our Under 15 side gaining the NEC Under 15 Div.1 title by winning all their matches. Five players: Will MacVicar, Andrew Corbin, Christopher Webster, Patrick George and Freddie Copestick played for Surrey and many more played for London Schools and in Surrey District cricket. Just as importantly we ran more teams than before and enabled more players to play competitive cricket despite the awful weather in May and June.
Coaching dates and details are shown above but please contact Allen Blackford if you require further information. Coaching sessions are run by ECB qualified coaches, many of whom are senior players at the Club. Health and Safety and the necessity for maintaining effective coaching ratios means that in some age groups we may not be able to accommodate all those who want to join the Club. Where necessary we have set up a waiting list for potential new members based on the date of first enquiry but we would hope that by running two sessions if necessary on Mondays and Fridays and using two grounds on Sunday morning that few will be disappointed.
Membership of the Colts section remains at £25 per player and £50 for two or more players from a family. Please also note that coaching is only available to those who are members of the Club.

Volunteers needed:
The management of teams and all the non-coaching aspects of the junior section are run by volunteer parents and we are always keen to encourage more parents to get involved. We now have regular meetings of parents and if you can help with managing, umpiring, scoring or match day organisation please let me know. Beginners are welcome as well as those with experience and we can arrange courses in umpiring, coaching and scoring.
Our registration day is Sunday April 13th from 11.00 and we would ask existing members to renew their membership by then. It would be good to see as many as possible of you on the day when we shall have full details of fixtures and information about the Club for new members. Peter Rice of Beckenham Cricket Suppliers and Dulwich CC will be bringing his new catalogues and he offers a 20% discount from recommended retail price to Dulwich members. New members: We will notify potential new members as soon as possible regarding availability but please do not return forms before the 15th until you have heard from us.
Note to members. If you have friends who want to join the club please ask them to make an enquiry by e-mail so we can put them on the waiting list. Last year we had to return cheques from people who had obtained forms from friends and were inadvertently queue jumping.
