Coaching > Junior Coaching Courses Programme
The club now takes responsibility for the coaching of around 200 junior members, with sessions running on Monday evenings, Friday afternoons and evenings and Sunday mornings. This means we’re always on the look out for more people to get involved in helping to run these sessions.
In recent years many of our young cricketers have taken their first steps into coaching including Tom Howe, Anil, Sunil and Arun Mahey, Daniel Yiltay and Luke Howard to name just a few. Others are waiting to get on the Level 1 course which is encouraging for the future of the club.
Our coaches have also been involved in many activities outside the club, assisting local schools throughout the borough. Tom Howe and Mark Kelly have been working with Surrey CCC at the Brit Oval and in local schools through the summer and are both now
engaged with the county on winter coaching programmes. They also help run the extensive winter coaching programme run by the club.
We want to encourage more parents and players to get involved with what is a hugely rewarding activity. The club will offer subsidies and grants to anyone wishing to take the first steps into coaching or to upgrade a qualification that they already possess.
As part of your initial qualification you will also need to pass a First Aid and Child Protection course and then obtain a CRB police check.
If you wish to apply for the UKCC Level 1 (Coaching Assistant) or Level 2 (Coach) qualification then please look here for details.
If you need to update your First Aid knowledge (this has to be done every 3 years) then look here for details.
To update your Child Protection knowledge (this also has to be done every 3 years) then look here for details.
If you are in any doubt about whether you need a CRB police check please refer to this document which details which positions held within the club need this to be done. To obtain a form you will need to contact one of Surrey Development Managers - Chris Bullen on cbullen@surreycricket.com, Sharon Eyers on seyers@surreycricket.com or Simon Hards on shards@surreycricket.com. Once the form is completed you will need to have the form verified and signed off with specific forms of ID. To arrange this please talk with the development officers or call David Sheppard on 0207 820 5734.
