Sat 19th May – 4th XI v Sunbury
SUNBURY 97 lost to DULWICH 98-2 by 8 wickets
Sunbury had started the season with 2 wins but unfortunately could only travel to Dulwich with 8 men. having won the toss Dulwich invited Sunbury to have a bat and soon had the visitors in trouble, Prasanna Callaghan taking 3 early wickets. With conditions making batting tricky and the Dulwich bowling finding a consistant line and length the Sunbury batsmen found run scoring tough and at 45-5 it looked like the innings might be heading for a swift conclusion but some patient batting allowed Sunbury to post 97 all out from 41 overs. Callaghan was the pick of the bowlers recording figures of 4-19 from 9.5 overs.
Whilst Dulwich were happy with their performance in the field, a few dropped catches and a missed run out means there is plenty to work on for next week. In reply, Dulwich wasted no time with Raj Tulsiani hitting the first ball back over the bowlers head for 4! Charlie Kemp also got going quickly and was soon hitting boundaries with ease. Raj was so keen to keep the score board ticking he drove a ball straight to mid-on and immediately called for an optimistic 2 much to the amusement of those watching on from the boundary. Raj fell for a swift 35 and Charlie went for 43 as Duwlich neared victory, so it was left to debutant Nick Anderson and Tarun Mahey to finish things off and claim an important 8 wickets victory.
