DULWICH 165 beat MALDEN WANDERERS 34 by 131 runs
The 4s finally made it out for some cricket and started the defence of their league title with a win against a young Malden Wanderers. 21 of the cricketers on display managed a combined 136-19 with the bat as DSG still damp from the recent monsoon season played a little on the slow and low side. Having been invited to bat only 1 Dulwich batsmen really got to grips with the accurate bowling and slow pitch, Gareth Peers scored 73 opening the batting and dominated the early scoring. He shared 49 with Andy Bailey who was bowled round his legs for 7 (Andy later claimed he must have taken the wrong guard!).
At 105-2 off 24 Dulwich looked in good position for a scored of 200 but a collapse left the reigning champions 165 all out. Tea came and went with many pondering their low scores but as Dulwich took the field they were determined that 165 would be enough and it was! After just 6 overs Kamran Munawar and Phil Robinson (3 wickets each) had reduced Malden to 10-6, and they were never able to recover. James Chudley and Rezaul Haque finished it off with Malden all out for 34. 1 played 1 won!
