21 April: Winners, Grinners
|21 April) A good start over the weekend with three wins during the friendlies.Saturday saw the Firsts winning a close game at Old Whitgiftans with 44s from Richard Farrow and Nick Storey and 33 from Ed Matten as we made 176.The returning Mark Kelly bowled 8 overs for just 8 runs and there were good spells from Bobby Iftikhar and Levi Olver as we won a close one by a handful of runs.|
|The Twos also won the toss, batted first and put on 216. With a Fifty for Andrew Cornick, supported by Zak Rostami and Gareth Cornick. Wycombe house went off like a rocket at 10 an over but good bowling pulled them back. Wickets from new boys Aamir Siddique (2) and Tom Gatenby (4 for) and then two wickets in a two ball spell from Gareth winning the game by 55 runs before a sizeable crowd.|
|On Sunday the North London Muslims replaced the Met Police as the Sundays 1′s opponents. The London Marathon, FA Cup semis and other capital events making leave and cricket a luxury. Another toss won and we made a decent 204 – 9. 90 fine and aggressive runs from Amer Saeed backed by cameos from Dave Robson, Simon Leather and Tom Barnard. Wickets were shared with new player James Finch getting 3. In the end a win by 33 runs. Many thanks to Sam Hulcoop who umpired all day.|
This Saturday the 1sts are at Bexley, the 2nds are home v Bexley and the 3rds home v Clapham Old Xaverians at the newly opened SCST, aka Dulwich Sports Ground.On Sunday the 1s game at Chingford is off, whilst the 2nds play Chingford at Burbage Road and the development side is at Old Rutlishians.
